Navajo

3" wheel with a small piece of Turquoise, beads and feathers.

overall length of 11" which includes the hangar.

The dream Catcher was a personal fetish, bestowing its medicine on its owner while he slept, by catching bad dreams in its webbing and letting the pleasant dreams through to him.

Originally woven with deer sinew on a willow hoop, and adorned with personal fetishes, as well as beads and feathers, the Dream Catcher hung in the lodge to the east awaiting the rise of the sun. The bright sunlight would then burn off all the bad dreams that had been captured in its web during the hours of darkness.
